ORDINANCE NO. 4580, October 14, 2013

Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4154, dated September 14, 2009, the Legislature did authorize the acceptance of the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) grant from the Department of Social Services, in the amount of $703,546.00; and,

WHEREAS, certain agencies that received grant funds through the County's administration of the HPRP grant were required to reimburse funds to the County that were not paid on their behalf through the Department of Social Services; and,

WHEREAS, the Housing Resources Commission, at its meeting held October 8, 2013, has authorized the allocation of a portion of those funds for the Jackson County Constructing Futures Program; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 18083, dated February 4, 2013, the Legislature did authorize Cooperative Agreements with certain outside agencies for the prevention of homelessness, including an allocation to Connections to Success, Inc., of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO in the amount of $14,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Constructing Futures Program is a unique public-private partnership designed to provide a structured pathway to allow former drug offenders to enter the construction industry, and at the same time provide permanent housing to those in need; and,
