Body
WHEREAS, Michael Hunt, Chief Attorney for Eastern Jackson County within the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, recently retired after thirty-five years of service to the County; and,

WHEREAS, Michael joined Jackson County on November 13, 1988, as an assistant prosecuting attorney and has served in a variety of roles under six different elected Prosecuting Attorneys; and,

WHEREAS, Michael was promoted regularly after joining the Prosecuting Attorney's Office to a variety of positions, including Special Assistant United States Attorney, Warrant Desk Attorney, Alcohol Related Assaults and Homicides Prosecutor, Trial Team Leader, General Crimes, Trial Team Leader: Drug Team, Chief Trial Assistant, Drug Team, Chairman of the Homicide Unit, Chief Trial Director, and Chief Trial Assistant, Major Crimes Unit; and,

WHEREAS, Michael's appearances as first chair at trial may be a record no assistant prosecuting attorney will ever break - 149 first-chair trials of crimes ranging from Class A misdemeanors to capital murder trials, including seventy-seven first-chair homicide trials; and,

WHEREAS, Michael's colleagues in the Prosecuting Attorney's Office regularly recognized his passion for his work, awarding him the Rookie of the Year Award in 1988; Warrant Officer of the Year in 1989, Trial Prosecutor of the Year in 1995, Louis Lombardo Award for Prosecutor of the Year in 2000, and Pat Hall Trial Attorney of the Year in 2008 and 2011; and,

WHEREAS, Michael was admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers; and,
