Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 17410, dated November 8, 2010, the Legislature did authorize the acquisition from the City of Independence, property located at 315 N. Main St., Independence, MO, for use as program space for an anti-drug program for at-risk youths; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney, who formerly managed the eastern Jackson County MyArts program at this location, has advised that she no longer intends to continue this program; and,


WHEREAS, the Legislature has determined that the best way to ensure that the building be used as originally intended is to convey the property to the local school district to operate similar programs for area youths, at no cost to the district except appropriate closing and administrative costs; and,

WHEREAS, such conveyance is authorized by Article II section 16.25 of the Jackson County Charter; and,

WHEREAS, conveyance of said property is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive or the Chair of the Legislature be and hereby are authorized to convey the property located at 315 N. Main St., Independence, MO, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the appropriate County officials be and hereby are authorized to take any actions and execute any and all other documents as are, in the judgment at the County Counselor, necessary to give effect to the intent of this Resolution.
