Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 18036, dated November 27, 2012, the Legislature authorized an agreement for the Prosecuting Attorney's Office's No Violence Alliance Project (NoVA), a collaborative initiative between key law enforcement leaders in Kansas City to reduce violent crime in Kansas City's urban core through a mix of law enforcement and social service components; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney, in collaboration with the Kansas City Police Department and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, desire to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Center for Crime Prevention and Control, a research foundation located at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, NY; and,

WHEREAS, the Center for Crime Prevention and Control will work with the County, the City of Kansas City, and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department to further their efforts at reducing violent crime in the Kansas City area; and,

WHEREAS, this Agreement will run through December 31, 2015, at a total cost in the amount of $100,000.00, with each of the three entities providing one-third of the cost, or $33,334.00; and,

WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to place the funds necessary for the County's portion of this Agreement in the appropriate spending account; and,
