Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, renewed the sales tax to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,

WHEREAS, in 2009, voters authorized the addition of an anti-violence component to the COMBAT campaign; and,

WHEREAS, the voters and the Legislature authorized the Drug Commission, subject to approval by the Legislature, to contract with any organization or entity, whether public or private, which engages in anti-violence activities; and,

WHEREAS, by Request for Proposals 59-13, the Drug Commission solicited proposals from community agencies seeking to provide anti-violence initiative activities and services for the two-year period 2014-2015; and,

WHEREAS, these proposals were evaluated by outside experts who made funding recommendations to the commission; and,

WHEREAS, after review of the outside evaluators recommendations, the Jackson County Drug Commission has recommended that the County Executive be authorized to execute agreements with certain outside agencies engaged in anti-violence activities for services from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2014; and,
