Body
WHEREAS, the Constructing Futures Project is a unique public-private partnership designed to provide a structured pathway to allow former drug offenders to enter the construction industry, and at the same time provide permanent housing to those in need; and,

WHEREAS, the project will allow drug offenders and unskilled individuals living in poverty to learn the construction trade by rehabilitating a house that can then be occupied by a family struggling with homelessness; and,

WHEREAS, Connections to Success, Inc., of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO, will serve as the manger for this project; and,

WHEREAS, the Housing Resources Commission and the COMBAT Administration are collaborating on this effort; and,

WHEREAS, the Housing Resources Commission has approved Housing Resources Commission funds in the amount of $35,000.00 for the furnishing of materials and supplies to rehabilitate a house located at 1506 South McCoy, Independence, MO, that will be occupied by a Jackson County family that has recently struggled with homelessness; and,

WHEREAS, the COMBAT Administration has approved Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds in the amount of $20,000.00 to provide for on-the-job training for Jackson County citizens through Connections with Success to provide the labor for the project, which will further the prevention of drugs and drug-related offenses; now therefore,
