Body
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends a contract with Southwestern Bell (SBC-ASI Division) of San Antonio, TX, for the furnishing of upgraded data communication lines between the Kansas City Courthouse and the Eastern Jackson County Offices; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to said contract for the reason that Southwestern Bell (SBC-ASI Division) of San Antonio, TX, is the only supplier capable of providing the required upgraded data communication lines; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that award be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County a contract with Southwestern Bell (SBC-ASI Division) of San Antonio, TX; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the contract, to the extent that sufficient appropriations are included in the County's then current annual budget.
