Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5058, dated November 28, 2017, the Legislature did authorize the execution of a program agreement with the Missouri Department of Social Services (MDSS) for participation in the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant; and,
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 6040, dated December 8, 2025, the Legislature did grant a six-month extension of the program agreement with the MDSS for participation in the VOCA grant; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney is requesting a seven-month extension of the program agreement with MDSS to accept and align with the terms of an additional VOCA grant with a term of April 1, 2026, through September 30, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, this extension will provide for continued funding for the salaries of six victim advocates through the expiration date of September 30, 2026 with an award amount of $106,800.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecutor's Office will provide an additional $138,332.00 to pay for the unfunded portion of the incumbent salaries; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary in order to place the grant funds in the proper spending account; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be made from the undesignated fund balance of the 2026 Grant Fund:
