Body
WHEREAS, Forrest Martin, retired January 2004 from employment with Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, Forrest Martin began his career as a journalist in the late 1950's and worked for newspapers in North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, and Kentucky for 20 years; and,

WHEREAS, Forrest accepted a reporting position with the Independence Examiner in January 1982, where he reported news from Independence City Hall, and later reported news as the County government reporter; and,

WHEREAS, In the early 1990's, Forrest was assigned to the Blue Springs Examiner and reported news involving the Oak Grove and Grain Valley city governments; and,

WHEREAS, Forrest became a County employee in January 1999 as a legislative aide to Terry Young, 5th District Jackson County Legislator, due to his familiarity with area government officials and laws; and,

WHEREAS, Forrest Martin worked for the Office of the Clerk of the Legislature immediately preceding his retirement; and,

WHEREAS, Forrest Martin has returned to North Carolina to live with and care for his mother, who will be celebrating her 90th year, and will continue to pursue his avocations for animals, gardening, and stamp collecting; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Forrest Martin on his retirement and wishes him success and enjoyment in all of his future endeavors.
