Body
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends a contract with SBC Internet Services of Plano, TX, for the renewal and upgrade of the County's internet data circuit for use by the Management Information Systems Department; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to said contract for the reason that SBC Internet Services of Plano, TX, is the only supplier capable of providing the needed renewal and upgrade services to the County's proprietary SBC internet data circuit; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that award be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County a contract with SBC Internet Services of Plano, TX, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
