AN ORDINANCE appropriating $15,538.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2022 Grant Fund, representing a reimbursement of funds used to purchase and install necessary law enforcement accessories on a police vehicle for use by the Sheriff's Office, received pursuant to a Missouri Department of Transportation Highway Safety and Traffic Division Hazardous Moving Violation grant.

Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5436, dated October 26, 2020, the Legislature transferred $23,911.00 within the 2020 General Fund and appropriated $515,821.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2020 Grant Fund, in acceptance of the Sheriff's Office's Hazardous Moving Violation Enforcement grant awarded by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), Traffic and Highway Safety Division, and authorized the County Executive to execute a Contract with the Missouri Traffic and Highway Safety Division for the expenditure of grant funds; and,
WHEREAS, these grant funds were to be used for certain personnel related expenses and the purchase of a vehicle and equipment for the Office's Traffic Safety Unit; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office recently accepted delivery of a 2021 Ford Explorer but, due to a delay in the vehicle's delivery, the County was not able to purchase and install the required specialized law enforcement equipment on the vehicle during the grant period; and,
WHEREAS, MoDOT has now made additional grant funds available to cover the cost of the purchase and installation of this specialized law enforcement equipment on this vehicle through an existing County term and supply vendor; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the funds received in the proper spending account; now therefore,
