INTRODUCED BY Ronald E. Finley, County Legislator
Body
WHEREAS, Gabrielle G. Finley is the daughter of Jackson County Legislator Ronald E. Finley and Hattie R. Grace; and,
WHEREAS, because of Gabrielle's high school achievements, she received a "Bright Futures" Scholarship from the State of Florida to attend college; and,
WHEREAS, she is currently a sophomore at Florida A&M University, maintaining a 3.6 GPA in journalism; and,
WHEREAS, during her freshman year she was selected to be a staff member of the Florida A&M newspaper, "The FAMUAN," and subsequently was selected as assistant news editor; and,
WHEREAS, both achievements were significant accomplishments for a freshman student; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to her editorial duties, she has written numerous articles and reviews for the paper; and,
WHEREAS, she recently completed a summer internship with "The Kansas City Call" newspaper, where her articles were published under her personal byline; and,
WHEREAS, Gabrielle has been named a recipient of the DeVerne Calloway Scholarship, awarded by the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus Foundation, Inc; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes Gabrielle G. Finely for her hard work and efforts to achieve, and wish her continual success in her college years and the best for a bright future in her chosen field of journalism.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
