Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Commission on Human Relations and Citizen Complaints was established under Article X of the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of Jackson County, adopted by a vote of the County's citizens on November 3, 1970; and,
WHEREAS, the Charter went into effect January 1, 1973, and, on March 17, 1973, the OHRCC Commission held its first meeting; and,
WHEREAS, the original Commission members were Chairman, Sidney Willens, Ella Jo Tolbert, Helen Haugh, Carl Bua, Patricia Hardy-Glorioso, John Gabett, William Carson, and Robert Tischner; and,
WHEREAS, appointed by the County Executive, the Commission's Charter mission and responsibilities are to work with citizen problems pertaining to County government; and,
WHEREAS, Commissioner Maynard Harvey, Sr., was first appointed to the Commission by Marsha Murphy, County Executive, on June 15, 1992, for a term to expire March 1, 1993; was reappointed to the Commission by Ms. Murphy, on April 5, 1993, for a term to expire March 1, 1997; was reappointed to the Commission by Katheryn J. Shields, County Executive, on June 18, 1997, for a term to expire March 1, 2001; was reappointed to the Commission by Ms. Shields on August 19, 2002, for a term to expire March 1, 2005; and,
WHEREAS, in March 2003, the Jackson County Human Relations and Citizen Complaints Commission will recognize and honor Commissioner Harvey for 11 years of service as a Commissioner representing the 2nd Legislative District; and,
