Body
WHEREAS, it is with great pleasure to welcome Benjamin Demps, Jr. to Jackson County as Kansas City, Missouri's new School Superintendent; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Demps received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1972 from State University of New York in Stony Brooks, New York and his Juris Doctorate in 1982 from Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Demps brings to Jackson County a wealth of knowledge and management experience in the area of private business, government, and finance; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Demps most recently held the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services and Director of the Department of Human Services in Oklahoma from 1991 through 1994 and has been owner and CEO of Setauket Corporation, Inc. and Demps Enterprises, Inc.; and,

WHEREAS, from 1985 through 1991 Mr. Demps held the position of Director of the Federal Aviation Administration for its Europe, Africa, and Middle-East Office and prior to that time held several other prominent positions; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Demps has been recognized and received numerous awards through his career, including the Meritorious Executive Service Award from President George Bush in 1991, the Meritorious Executive Service Award from President Jimmy Carter in 1980, the Secretary's Silver Medal for Meritorious Achievement from the U.S. Department of Transportation in 1987, the Governor's Award from the Oklahoma Office of the Governor in 1994, and the School of Law Distinguished Law Alumnus in 1991 from Oklahoma City University; and,
