AN ORDINANCE appropriating $1,300.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2017 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund in acceptance of funds received from members of the Jackson County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force and authorizing an increase to the agreement with Paul Campo of Lee's Summit, MO, at an additional cost to the County not to exceed $1,300.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Drug Task Force (JCDTF) is a multi-jurisdictional task force formed to counter the drug problem in Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, cities located in Jackson County, as well as the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff make up the representative agencies of the task force; and,
WHEREAS, the JCDTF receives a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice that is administered through the Missouri Department of Public Safety; and,
WHEREAS, the current grant application includes a requirement that the member agencies of the JCDTF submit a nominal annual payment to further the goals and operations of the task force; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 19320, dated November 28, 2016, the Legislature did authorize an agreement with Paul Campo of Lee's Summit, MO, to serve as the legal counsel for the JCDTF; and,
WHEREAS, the JCDTF has received $1,300.00 from its member agencies and the Executive Board of the JCDTF has requested that this year's funds be used for its legal counsel to update its governing agreement; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place these funds in the proper spending account; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be made from the undesignated fund balance of the 2017 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund:
