WHEREAS, the County has solicited written proposals for group dental insurance for County employees for the 2000 contract year; and,
WHEREAS, dental health maintenance organization (DHMO) respondents were as follows: United Dental Care, Compdent, Dental Source, Cigna, and Humana; and,
WHEREAS, indemnity plan respondents were as follows: Protective, Compdent, Dental Source, Cigna, and Mutual of Omaha; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration and ad hoc Risk and Insurance Committee recommend:

and,
WHEREAS, United Dental Care has maintained low cost to employees and the County for many years; and,
WHEREAS, United Dental Care has proposed no rate increase for the next two (2) years and Protective has proposed a second year rate cap guarantee; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with United Dental Care and Protective, for employee group dental insurance coverage.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
