Body
WHEREAS, the Labor's Educational & Political Club Independent and Kansas City's labor community are honoring Bob Gillihan as Organized Labor's Representative of the Year at Harrah's Hotel and Casino on April 14, 2000; and,

WHEREAS, Bob has been a tireless leader in the labor community since early 1953; and,

WHEREAS, upon joining Teamsters Local Union 541, Bob began a remarkable career in the construction industry; and,

WHEREAS, in 1968 Bob was hired as business agent for the Union where he spent countless hours of time in labor negotiations over contract disputes; and,

WHEREAS, in 1980 while successfully fulfilling his role as business agent, Bob also became Vice President of Local 541; and,
WHEREAS, in 1990 Bob became President of the Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council, a position he holds today; and,

WHEREAS, Bob was elected Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Joint Council No. 56, serving from 1991-1999, and now serves as its President; and,

WHEREAS, during Bob's illustrious career he has served as Trustee for the pension health and welfare funds for Zenith Administrators (Mo-Kan Teamsters Trust Fund), member of the Board of Directors of Park Lane Hospital from 1990-1999, and currently serves as commissioner of the KCATA; and,

WHEREAS, Bob and his wife, Marlene have been blessed with eight children, Pam, Pat, Kim, Kevin (now deceased), Sean, Mike, Mark, and Brent; and,
