RESOLUTION # 14334, October 7, 2002

INTRODUCED BY Ronald E. Finley, County Legislator

Body

WHEREAS, by Resolution 13092, dated February 14, 2000, the Legislature did award one-year term and supply contracts on Bid No. 182-99 for the furnishing of safety equipment and fire extinguishers for use by the Facilities Management, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works Departments to three vendors, including Orr Safety Corp. of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO, in the estimated aggregate amount of $23,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, these contracts were previously extended for one year by Purchasing Director pursuant to the contracts' terms; and,

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director now recommends that the contract with Orr Safety Corp. only be further extended for an additional eight-month period, at an estimated cost of $7,000.00, to provide sufficient time to update specifications, rebid, and evaluate responses to determine the lowest and best bidder for a new contract term; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the extension be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the extension; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract as extended, to the extent sufficient appropriations to the using spending agencies have heretofore been made in the current Jackson County budget.
