A RESOLUTION commending Brian Wimes for outstanding service during his tenure with the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office and commending him on his recent appointment as Jackson County Drug Court Commissioner.

Body

WHEREAS, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brian C. Wimes was recently appointed as Jackson County Drug Court Commissioner after six years of service to the citizens of Jackson County; and,

 

 WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Prosecuting Attorney's Office, he served as Drug Abatement Response Team (DART) Coordinator (3/91 to 10/97), Truancy Coordinator for the Community Justice Unit (8/96 to 2/97), Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (4/95 to 2/97), and Senior Trial Attorney (1/99 to present); and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Wimes worked closely with MoveUp, formerly known as the Ad Hoc Group Against Crime, conducting community meetings, hosting seminars on drug-related issues, and coordinating the closure of drug houses in Jackson County; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Wimes was instrumental in creating a pilot truancy program where he worked closely with school officials at six middle and senior high schools in the Kansas City School District, advising them on legal issues related to school truancy; and,

 

WHEREAS, he graduated from Grandview High School in 1984, received a degree in Political Science in 1989 from the Univerity of Kansas, and received his Juris Doctorate in 1994 from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Wimes and his wife Michelle have two children, Sydney Olivia, age 4, and Gabrielle Alexandra, age 2; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Wimes has distinguished himself through his unparalleled service to the citizens of Jackson County and deserves the highest degree of praise and recognition; therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes and commends  Brian Wimes for six years of outstanding service to the citizens of Jackson County and congratulates him on his recent appointment as Drug Court Commissioner.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
