A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Legislature to the family and friends of Senator Ronnie DePasco, upon the occasion of his untimely death.

                                                               Robert A. Stringfield, and Henry C. Rizzo, County Legislators

 

Body

WHEREAS, the members of the Legislature extends their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of State Senator Ronnie DePasco, who departed this life on Saturday, May 24, 2003, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer; and,

 

WHEREAS, Senator DePasco, a veteran Kansas City lawmaker, was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1976 and served there until 1992; and,

 

WHEREAS, he was elected to the State Senate in 1992, re-elected in 1996 and 2000, and elected majority floor leader in 1998, a position he held until 2001;and,

 

WHEREAS, he was named Senator of the Year in 1999 by the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys; and,

 

WHEREAS, he was a member of the Missouri Peace Officers Association, the Advisory Council for Blindsight, the Jackson County Industrial Development Authority, the Knights of Columbus, the Moose Lodge, the Eagles, the Sons of Columbus, UNICO, the Optimists, and the Northeast Chamber of Commerce; and,

 

WHEREAS, he was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 19, 1943, and attended Maple Woods Junior College and Rockhurst College; and,

 

WHEREAS, Senator DePasco is survived by his wife, Martha DePasco, three children, Carrie, Kelly and Kacie, and a host of other relatives and friends; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest sympathy to family and friends of Senator Ronnie DePasco upon the occasion of his untimely death.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
