Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 13493, dated January 16, 2001, the Legislature did authorize the County Executive to execute an agreement with Black Archives of Mid-America for the purpose of collecting, preserving, and presenting to the general public documents, artifacts, and stories relating to the African-American experience at a cost to the County not to exceed $15,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, due to breakdown in communications between County and Chamber staffs, the Agreement authorized by Resolution 13493 was never executed; and,
WHEREAS, the County and Black Archives of Mid-America, now desire to enter into an Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, whereunder the County will pay $30,000.00 to the Chamber, to be used to help fund certain programs to assist minority contractors for the years 2001 and 2002; and,
WHEREAS, in order to fully fund this Agreement, a reappropriation of the unspent 2001 funding is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this reappropriation as an amendment to her 2002 proposed annual County budget; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following reappropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2002 General Fund be and hereby is made:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Resolution 13493, dated January 16, 2001, be and is hereby rescinded; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Agreement is hereby approved and that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement on behalf of the County; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
