A RESOLUTION approving a one (1) year renewal and extension with Humana Health Care of the existing group health insurance plans with the addition of an employee health wellness program at an increased rate of nine percent (9%) for the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans as a County-provided benefit.

Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 14361, dated November 4, 2002, the County awarded a one-year contract for group health insurance for the 2003 plan year to Humana Health Care with a provision for two one-year renewal options; and,
 
WHEREAS, the contract renewal option was exercised for the 2004 plan year by Resolution 14747, dated October 6, 2003; and,
 
WHEREAS, Humana Health Care has now offered the second one-year renewal at a nine percent (9%) rate increase for its HMO and PPO plans; and,
 
WHEREAS, Humana has agreed to enhance the County's health wellness program by offering the services of Gordina Health Solutions, Inc. at no cost to the County; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Administration and the County's health insurance brokers, CBIZ and the McDaniel Hazley Group, recommend renewal of the County's current contracts with Humana Health Care for group health insurance for County employees for 2005, upon terms and conditions set forth in the original agreements, including a nine percent (9%) increase in rates for all plans, as follows:

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the extension and renewal of the health insurance contract of Humana Health Care, consisting of two IPA Models and a POS Model upon terms and conditions set out in the original agreements with the added service of an employee health wellness program and the rates as stated below:

be and hereby are approved; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive be, and hereby is, authorized to execute all documents necessary to effect this extension and renewal.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
