Body
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends a contract with SBC Communications of Kansas City, MO, for the the relocation of the telephone room equipment from the second floor of the Kansas City Courthouse to the basement of the Courthouse; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to said contract for the reason that SBC Communications of Kansas City, MO, is the only vendor authorized to perform the required work on its proprietary telephone equipment; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that award be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County a contract with SBC Communications of Kansas City, MO; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
