Title

A RESOLUTION commending Robert Perkins for more than 30 years of public service to the citizens of Jackson County, and wishing him well upon his retirement.

Body

WHEREAS, Robert Perkins, supervisor of the Delinquent Business Tax Unit of the Jackson County Collections Department, has retired after more than 30 years of public service; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1971, Robert was elected as Constable/1st Magistrate District, a position he held until it was abolished in 1974, in compliance with the implementation of the Jackson County Home Rule Charter; and,

 

WHEREAS, from 1975 until 1983, his professional experience in public service included working as a State Sales Tax Collector, Community Service Specialist, Radio Dispatcher, Chief Testing Examiner, Customer Service Manager and Energy Assistance Caseworker: and,

 

WHEREAS, Robert began his career with Jackson County in 1983 as a temporary taxpayer service clerk, and in 1984 this position became permanent; and,

WHEREAS, he was promoted to business tax collector on August 21, 1984 and accepted the position of delinquent business tax supervisor on December 28, 1987; and,

 

WHEREAS, throughout the years Robert developed a remarkable rapport with business owners and individuals from diverse backgrounds; and,

 

WHEREAS, he set a high standard for employees in the Business Tax Unit to assist the public with unresolved or disputed tax matters in a courteous and professional manner; and,

 

WHEREAS, Robert received his early education at Booker T. Elementary, graduated from high school and went on to college to major in Political Science at Central Missouri State University (1962-1963), and major in Psychology at the Texas Southern University (1963-1964); and,

 

WHEREAS, additionally, Robert is a Jazz musician, he plays the trumpet and is a former board member of the Mutual Musicians Foundation; and,

 

WHEREAS, Robert and Jacqueline Aubrey were married on October 23, 1965, and are the parents of six children:  Robert (deceased), Kaarin, Eldridge, Kharma, Na'Ima, and Kaareem (deceased), and three granddaughters ages 12, 11 & 9; and,

 

WHEREAS, respect and admiration go out to Robert Perkins for his many years of providing quality taxpayer assistance to citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Robert Perkins, supervisor of the Delinquent Business Tax Unit of the Jackson County Collections Department for more than 30 years of public service to the citizens of Jackson County and wishes him well upon his retirement.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
