IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION authorizing county staff to negotiate with Clay and Platte Counties to ensure that the citizens of Clay, Platte, and Jackson Counties are paying similar amounts for medical examiner services. Intro RESOLUTION #12896, October 4, 1999 INTRODUCED BY Ronald E. Finley, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, for the past several years, the Jackson County Medical has served as the medical examiner for Clay and Platte Counties as well; and, WHEREAS, during this time, Jackson County has provided medical examiner services to Clay and Platte Counties under a succession of cooperative agreements; and, WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Legislature that the basis of the compensation paid by Clay and Platte Counties for these services has not changed since these relationships were established; and, WHEREAS, with the relatively rapid population growth of Clay and Platte Counties, it is possible that the citizens of Jackson County are paying more than their fair share of the cost of providing medical examiner services to all three counties; and, WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Legislature that this situation be reviewed and remedied, if necessary, in the new cooperative agreements to be effective January 1, 2000; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that county staff be and hereby is authorized to negotiate with Clay and Platte Counties to ensure that the citizens of Clay, Platte, and Jackson Counties are paying similar amounts for medical examiner services. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
