Body
WHEREAS, John Cloonan joined Jackson County in 1986 as a Corrections Officer with significant military experience that allowed him to bring with him a commitment of excellence upon which the Detention Center has relied for many years; and,
WHEREAS, John’s leadership, in his roles as Major, Captain, Lieutenant, and Sergeant, CERT team member, and shift commander, has had a significant impact on the operations of the facility; and,
WHEREAS, during his years of service, Major John Cloonan has coached, taught, and trained numerous officers at various levels within the facility; and,
WHEREAS, in 2020 Major Cloonan received the Public Employees Recognition Award for Distinguished Lifetime Achievement; and,
WHEREAS, John has always been appreciated for his professionalism, high ethical standards, and integrity; and,
WHEREAS, John’s daily presence will be deeply missed by his colleagues who have benefited from his knowledge, effective problem solving, and positive support; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Major John Cloonan on the occasion of his retirement and extends best wishes in all of his future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
