Body
WHEREAS, Pat Klein has served the City of Kansas City for more than twenty-five years, working his way up from an analyst to become, in June 2016, the Director of Aviation, where he has overseen all aspects of the management, development, operation, and maintenance of Kansas City International Airport (KCI) and Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (MKC); and,

WHEREAS, Pat previously served as an Assistant City Manager from 2012 to 2017, acting as the city manager's liaison to the Aviation Department, where he worked with groups studying future options for airport terminal modernization, including the mayor's Airport Terminal Advisory Group and the Airport Leadership Committee; and,

WHEREAS, Pat's strong work as Aviation Director can be seen in the successful design, construction, and opening of KCI's new terminal, various development projects in the works at KCI, unencumbered cash increasing from $100 million dollars in 2016 to an expected $225 million dollars in 2023, a record number of operations at MKC, and the Taxiway Lima project poised for development at MKC; and,


WHEREAS, Pat's impact can be seen in the core of the city at the East Patrol Police Station and at the region's front door to travelers from around the world at the new KCI terminal, and he has earned the respect of city leaders and stakeholders along the way; and,

WHEREAS, Pat has been an example of Kansas City employees at their very best, hardworking, humble, diligent, and successful; and,

WHEREAS, Pat has announced his retirement from the City of Kansas City, effective Friday, May 31, 2023, and, while he will enjoy some time off, he looks forward to the next chapter in his life, the passion projects and...
