Body
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Legislature to work with the County Administration, County Counselor, and Taxing Jurisdictions in response to the concerns with the 2023 property tax assessment cycle process; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature request that the Jackson County Department of Assessment identify property owners that have (1) not submitted an appeal for the 2023 assessment cycle or (2) have not accepted a settlement from the Board of Equalization or STC and who believe their property assessment is inaccurate; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature hereby requests of the County Assessor via the County Executive to reopen the appeal submission for a period of 60 days to allow property owners to address potential wrong assessments; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Legislature requests the Jackson County Executive work in collaboration with Legislature toward providing fair and equitable assessments.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
