A RESOLUTION expressing the intent of the Legislature to strenuously request that the County Counselor not appeal the Missouri State Tax Commission Order issued on August 6, 2024.

Body
WHEREAS, due to concerns about the 2023 assessment cycle the Legislature requests that Jackson County comply with the Order issued by the State Tax Commission on August 6, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, under this Order, the Jackson County Department of Assessment would adjust all real property value increases more than 15% to be an increase of 15%, in essence capping all increases; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature hereby requests of the County Counselor that Jackson County not appeal the recent Order received by the State Tax Commission; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Legislature requests that the County Counselors office will work collaboratively with the Legislature as a Whole in regard to future lawsuits filed against the Legislature and lawsuits filed on behalf of the Legislature.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
