Body
WHEREAS, Layla, born to Anthony and Leah Solomon in Kansas City, MO, has demonstrated exemplary dedication and service as an intern to Donna Peyton, 2nd District At-Large, County Legislator; and,
WHEREAS, Layla has pursued her education with great distinction, attending Academie Lafayette, a French immersion school, and Lincoln College Preparatory Academy for Middle and High School; and,
WHEREAS, during her time at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, Layla was an International Baccalaureate candidate and participated in numerous extracurricular activities including softball, serving as Secretary of the Black Student Union, participating in orchestra, acting as a Student Ambassador, being a member of the National Honor Society, serving as Senior Class Vice President and Secretary, and participating in the General Assembly and HBCU Prospects; and,
WHEREAS, Layla is a multilingual individual, fluent in both Spanish and French, demonstrating her commitment to broadening her cultural and linguistic horizons; and,
WHEREAS, outside of her academic pursuits, Layla has been actively involved in her community, participating in the Macedonia Baptist Church Teen Council, Girl Scouts, the 2024 Delta Sigma Theta Inc. Cotillion, and volunteering with various organizations including the Special Olympics, Happy Bottoms, Operation Breakthrough, and Harvesters; and,
WHEREAS, Layla will be attending Spelman College this fall, majoring in Psychology, with the aspiration of becoming an Adolescent Psychiatrist and bringing a holistic approach to mental health for children; and,
WHEREAS, Layla's dedication, hard work, and passion for service have greatly contributed to the betterment of the community...
