Body
WHEREAS, the Kansas City area has a rich history of Black men and women who demonstrated greatness and changed the world through science, education, politics, civil rights, sports, music, and the arts; and,

WHEREAS, while many of their stories are widely known, many more stories have long deserved to be discovered and celebrated; and,

WHEREAS, researchers with the Kansas City Public Library and the Black Archives of Mid-America have worked annually to gather new and inspiring biographies from our history, and that the Local Investment Commission of Greater Kansas City (LINC) has designed, published, and distributed the books and posters that tell these stories; and,

WHEREAS, these books and posters are known as the Kansas City Black History Project have been shared among thousands every year, including in classrooms, our public libraries, churches, community centers, government halls, homes, and businesses; and,
WHEREAS, these biographies and images of our local heroes have been inspiring lessons for us all, young, and old, elevating our collective pride in Kansas City's greatness, now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature wholeheartedly celebrates the work of LINC, the Kansas City Public Library and the Black Archives of Mid-America for the Kansas City Black History Project as we all honor th...
