Body
WHEREAS, University Health, formerly known as Truman Medical Center, is in need of construction of a new Health Sciences building, estimated to cost twenty-two million dollars; and,
WHEREAS, the allocation for the new Health Sciences building will allow for bidding on that construction project and allow for a future resolution to be approved by the County Legislature for the award of such a contract; and,
WHEREAS, the new Health Sciences building on the University Health campus will accommodate the University of Missouri- Kansas City students' study of and partaking in future employment in the medical field, as well as accommodate patients that reside in the Jackson County area; and,
WHEREAS, preliminary allocations for the new Health Sciences building will allow design to commence on necessary construction and allow for a future construction price and contract to be approved for award by the County Legislature at a later date; and,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is encouraged to appropriate $22,000,000.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the General Fund and authorize the construction of a new Health Sciences building for use by University Health.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
