Body
WHEREAS, the Prosecutor's Office has joined the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA-US) subsequently launching the Prosecutors for Prosecutors (PFP) program to unite prosecutors across the United States and aboard to help save the lives of colleagues who remain in Afghanistan; and,
WHEREAS, this campaign was launched in response to a request from APA-US when it was learned that Afghani prosecutors, along with their families, are being tortured and killed by the Taliban; and,
WHEREAS, it is the goal of the APA-US to raise money to relocate Afghani Prosecutors and their families to safe countries; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Prosecting Attorney's Office has agreed to provide assistance to a family that is relocating to the Kansas City area; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the funds in the proper spending account; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be made from the undesignated fund balance of the 2023 Delinquent Sales Tax Fund:
