RESOLUTION NO. 21445, October 23, 2023

INTRODUCED BY Manuel Abarca IV, DaRon McGee, Jalen Anderson, Jeanie Lauer, and Sean E. Smith, County Legislators


Body
WHEREAS, Jordan Antonio Colon of Kansas City, Missouri, has successfully completed all requirements to attain Scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout; and,

WHEREAS, only approximately five percent of all Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; and,

WHEREAS, earning the rank of Eagle Scout is an important milestone which carries special significance not only in Scouting, but also throughout a young person's pursuit of higher education, business ventures, and community service; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan, a member of Scout Troop 1027, will be recognized for his achievement at the Eagle Court of Honor to be held October 29, 2023, at the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library; and,

WHEREAS, as a Scout, Jordan has served numerous leadership roles as a member of Troops 1027 and 1056, including Quartermaster; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan has attended seven years of summer camp at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation where he has attained the rank of Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where his tribal name is "Fast Swimming Tiger Shark;" and,

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Jordan planned and supervised the construction of bat houses for Jerusalem Farms in the Historic Northeast Neighborhood of Kansas City; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan is a senior at Winnetonka High School, where he is an exceptional athlete and state qualifier in wrestling; and,

WHEREAS, upon graduation next year, Jordan will be a Scout Leader at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, and after camp, he will be going into the United States Navy; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan is the son of Jessica Yvette Colon, who...
