Title: Pursuant to section 706.1, Jackson County Code, 1984, I hereby promulgate the following amendment to Rule 8 of the Jackson County Personnel Rules for Jackson County associates. This amendment shall be effective immediately. Rule 8 is amended to and add a new subsection 8.9, to reads as follows: Section 8.9 Bilingual Services Stipend. A. An Appointing Authority may pay an employee Bilingual Services Stipend if the following conditions have been met: 1. The employee's Appointing Authority has determined that the employee's position requires that the employee use bilingual skills regularly to perform the employee's work; and 2. The employee demonstrates proficiency in the second language, according to standards established by the Director of Human Resources. B. RE:                     AMENDMENT TO THE PERSONNEL RULES: Bilingual Service Stipend

 

Title

Pursuant to section 706.1, Jackson County Code, 1984, I hereby promulgate the following amendment to Rule 8 of the Jackson County Personnel Rules for Jackson County associates. This amendment shall be effective immediately.

 

Rule 8 is amended to and add a new subsection 8.9, to reads as follows:

 

Section 8.9 Bilingual Services Stipend.

A.                     An Appointing Authority may pay an employee Bilingual Services Stipend if the following conditions have been met:

 

1.                     The employee’s Appointing Authority has determined that the employee’s position requires that the employee use bilingual skills regularly to perform the employee’s work; and

 

2.                     The employee demonstrates proficiency in the second language, according to standards established by the Director of Human Resources.

 

B.                     When an employee changes positions and bilingual skills are not a requirement of the new position, or the employee no longer uses bilingual skills regularly, the Bilingual Services Stipend shall cease.

 

C.                     The stipend amount shall be the same for all employees. The stipend amount shall be determined annually by the Director of Human Resources as part of the County’s annual budget process and shall not be less than $2.00 per hour.
