Body
WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Public Safety, as the sponsoring state agency for administration of the U.S. Department of Defense's Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) Program, has requested the execution of an updated LESO Program Application and State Plan of Operation; and,
WHEREAS, the LESO Program, formerly known as the DOD 1033 Program, provides surplus U.S. Department of Defense military equipment to state and local civilian law enforcement agencies for use in counter-narcotics and counter-terrorism operations and to enhance officer safety; and,
WHEREAS, the attached State Plan of Operation and Application for Participation set out the rights and obligations of each party participating in the LESO Program; and,
WHEREAS, the execution of these documents is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Sheriff and other County officials be and hereby are authorized to execute the attached State Plan of Operation and LESO Application in connection with the LESO program, and any other documents necessary to give effect to the intent of this Resolution.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
