A RESOLUTION congratulating Macedonia Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri on the occasion of its 107th anniversary.

Body
WHEREAS, Macedonia Baptist Church of Kansas City (Jackson County), Missouri, has served its community for 107 years, guiding individuals of all ages to Jesus Christ and promoting spiritual growth and development; and,
WHEREAS, the early leaders of the Church, Founder Pastor Charles Sanders, Pastor Jackson Smith, Pastor L.C. Rice, and Pastor Preston Allen, Sr., made significant contributions to the growth and development of the church, impacting the communities of the church’s previous three locations; and,
WHEREAS, for 49 years under the leadership of Pastor Preston Allen, Sr., Macedonia Baptist Church expanded and improved its facilities and purchased the facility at 2455 Benton Blvd; and,
WHEREAS, through the 25-year leadership of Pastor Preston Allen, Jr., the Church was recognized as a Historic Landmark, having been the site of President Harry S Truman's baptism; and,
WHEREAS, the current leader of Macedonia Baptist Church, Pastor John Leslie Brooks, for 25 years has continued this tradition of strong leadership, establishing new ministries to serve the congregation, leading the building of the current facility at 1700 E. Linwood Blvd. and currently leading the construction of the Phase IV project, which includes the building of a teen center; and,
WHEREAS, Macedonia Baptist Church has a long-standing commitment to serving its community, demonstrated by its food pantry and annual KC Convoy of Hope, as well as other outreach programs throughout the year; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Macedonia Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri, on the occasion of its 107th anniversary and expresses its admiration for the church's commitment to spiritual growth and community service; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature encourages all citizens to recognize and celebrate the church's contributions to the community and wishes the church continued success and prosperity in the years to come.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
