Body

WHEREAS, on January 25, 1953, June Marjorie Rupprecht and William James “Bill” Swope were married, beginning their lifelong commitment to each other; and,

WHEREAS, after living briefly in Ohio, June and Bill returned to Kansas City, purchasing a home in the newly developed Saint Catherine’s Gardens neighborhood where together they raised their five children; and,

WHEREAS, for many years Bill worked as a union lithographer for Midwest Lithography, retiring in 1992; and,

WHEREAS, in those early years, June worked as a homemaker, always the calm one in a sea of chaos, magically making Bill’s paycheck last until the end of the month; and,

WHEREAS, June and Bill’s children still rave about their mother’s delicious meals that they continue to enjoy today; and,

WHEREAS, once the Swope children were all off to school, June worked in accounting at Cartwright Van Lines until she retired in 1996; and,

WHEREAS, during their retirement, Bill and June enjoy gardening, shopping for antiques, spending time with family, and traveling to the lake and across the country, especially winter stays in Florida sitting on the beach to watch the sunrise and sunset; and,

WHEREAS, Bill and June are devout in their Catholic faith, proud of their large family, and look forward to celebrating their seventieth wedding anniversary with a special event in February at Libations in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, Bill and June’s children, Dianne (David) Studer, Susanne (Michael) McCambridge, Daniel J. Swope, Juliann (John) O’Gara, and Steven J. (Rita) Swope, their grandchildren, Ryan Studer, Amanda Calvin, Emiley McCambridge, Kyle Swope, Nicholas Swope, Allix Nachbar, Daniel Swope, Steven Swope, Jr., and Jessica Swope, and their great grandchildren, Grant Studer, Garrett Studer, Cameron Swope, Dylan Swope, Avery Atagi, Kinley Atagi, Preston Atagi, Finnegan Calvin, Hudson Nachbar, Holland Nachbar, and Harrison Nachbar, all join in this momentous celebration; now therefore,
