Body
WHEREAS, Dan Tarwater III will be leaving his position as Jackson County Legislator representing the Fourth District on December 31, 2022, and it is appropriate that on the occasion of his final meeting, the Legislature should honor and recognize his dedicated service to the citizens of Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, Dan was elected to the Legislature in 1994 and is known for his advocacy and support for law enforcement issues and drug treatment initiatives; and,
WHEREAS, in 1986, Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Marketing from Rockhurst College; and,
WHEREAS, Dan is a Sales Executive for Twin Lakes Insurance and enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, snow skiing, and visiting Las Vegas; and,
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Legislature, Dan served as Chairman in 2005, 2007, 2012, 2015, and 2021, and as Vice Chairman in 2008, 2010, 2019, and 2020; and,
WHEREAS, when Dan was not serving as Chairman, he Chaired the Anti-Drug/Anti-Crime Committee where he oversaw and promoted the COMBAT sales tax efforts to assist law enforcement with drug use disorder treatment and prevention programs; and,
WHEREAS, Dan has also served as the Legislature’s representative on the Kansas City Zoological District Commission and as the Legislature’s representative on the Housing Resources Commission; and,
WHEREAS, Dan has an engaging sense of humor and possesses a child-like joy of affixing his signature on every assorted dry erase board or framed photo, a practice that will be missed by his co-workers and staff; and,
WHEREAS, Dan’s wife Paula, his children Abby, Danny, and Mitch, and his mother Mary Margaret all join in honoring Dan for his service; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Dan Tarwater III for his twenty-eight years of dedicated service to the citizens of Jackson County and extends best wishes for all of his future endeavors.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
