Body

 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Legislature that the County fully explore with the City of Kansas City the feasibility of the City’s formal participation in the design, construction, and operation of the planned Jackson County Detention Center in east Kansas City; and,

 

WHEREAS, such participation could include the City’s financial contribution to the construction of the detention center, as well as follow-on contracts with the City for the housing of City inmates at the detention center once constructed and being operated by the County; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby requests the County Administration to explore a partnership with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and its City Manager to jointly provide effective detention and rehabilitation services on the new Jackson County Detention Center campus in a manner consistent with this Resolution.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
