A RESOLUTION honoring Barbara J. Casamento for her thirty-eight years of dedicated service to Jackson County.

RESOLUTION NO. 20988, June 13, 2022

Body

 WHEREAS, Barbara J. (Barb) Casamento, Purchasing Administrator for the County’s Finance and Purchasing Department, has been a valuable and reliable team member to County staff and the Legislature for thirty-eight years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barb started her working career in a clerical position at Baptist Medical Center, but since the position did not provide health insurance, she carefully observed the buyers on staff and soon earned a position as a purchasing agent; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barb came to Jackson County as a Senior Buyer on June 4, 1984, and was promoted to Purchasing Supervisor in 2006, and later reclassified as Purchasing Administrator in 2017; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barb has completed the Construction Procurement Certification from the NIGP Institute for Public Procurement, has been honored as the Jackson County Employee of the Month for September 2000, and received the Public Employees Recognition Day (PERD) Team Service Award in 2008; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barb’s knowledge and steadfast leadership have proven to be  valuable assets to the Legislature throughout its consideration of complex purchasing matters, including work on the detention center, software and computer upgrades, and other improvements such as the new Bonfire Purchasing software; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barb is an avid Chiefs fan who can also be found frequenting the Levee or Knuckleheads, enjoying her favorite classic rock music; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barb is devoted to her family, including her daughter Marisa Barnes, who was recently promoted to Major in the Kansas City Police Department, her grandson Braden Barnes, affectionately known as Lil’ Man, her mom Janet Potter, and her brother Dennis Potter; and,

 

WHEREAS, Marisa describes her mom as a passionate advocate who taught her to be the strong, capable woman she is today; and,

 

WHEREAS, Barb is known to all as hard-working and resilient, with a soft, kind, and caring heart; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the dedicated and indispensable service of Barbara J. Casamento and extends wishes on her continued success.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
