Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5295, dated November 25, 2019, the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney accepted funds from the City of Kansas City awarded pursuant to the Justice Assistance (JAG) grant by the United States Department of Justice to be used for local law enforcement purposes; and,
WHEREAS, this grant allocated $256,101.00 to Jackson County for salaries and benefits for two assistant prosecutors, a data and information analyst, partial salary for an assistant prosecutor/diversion manager, travel expenses and education benefits for training staff, and the purchase of software, computers, and accessories for staff; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney now recommends an extension to this grant at no cost to the County to allow for the full expenditure of grant funds; and,
WHEREAS, this extension will provide for continued funding for these positions through December 31, 2022, at no cost to the County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the 2018 JAG grant be extended through December 31, 2022, as recommended by the Prosecuting Attorney, at no cost to the County; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Prosecuting Attorney and all other County officials be and hereby are authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to give effect to the intent of this Resolution.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
