A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute a Quit Claim Deed in favor of Jackson County, relating to the construction of the Jackson County Detention Center, at no cost to the County.

RESOLUTION NO. 20958, May 23, 2022

 

INTRODUCED BY Jalen Anderson, County Legislator

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, the County has purchased approximately 107.5 acres in eastern Kansas City, MO, on which to construct a new Jackson County Detention Center; and,

 

WHEREAS, the execution of a Quit Claim Deed as to a portion of the 107.5 acre parcel is necessary to establish a legally separate 69.63 acre tract of land on which to construct the Detention Center in a manner compliant with the City of Kansas City’s zoning ordinance; and,

 

WHEREAS, the execution of the attached Quit Claim Deed is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Quit Claim Deed in favor of the County for construction of the Jackson County Detention Center.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
