Body
WHEREAS, the Exceptional Educators Initiative is an effort to spotlight Jackson County public school teachers for their excellence in education; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Jason Snodgrass, Superintendent of the Fort Osage School District, recommends this recognition for Fran Burnett of Fort Osage High School; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Burnett, who teaches French and acts as faculty advisor to the Student Council, has served as an educator for twenty-five years; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Burnett is a recipient of the Fort Osage Alumni Association Red Feather Award and the Trails West District STUCO Advisor of the Year award; and,
WHEREAS, as the student council advisor and teacher, Mrs. Burnett strives to instill lessons of leadership in her students; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Burnett served on the Missouri Association of Student Council executive board for six years and regularly presents workshops for advisors and students on leadership, public speaking, communication, and motivation; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Burnett led the team of advisors who wrote the Missouri Association of Student Council Leadership Curriculum according to Missouri standards and gained the endorsement of the Missouri Secondary School Principals; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Burnett is known for genuinely caring about each student's unique abilities, strengths, and interests; and,
WHEREAS, through her nurturing engagement, she helps students achieve their best and develop the confidence they need to succeed; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Fran Burnett of Fort Osage High School as an Exceptional Educator in Jackson County.
