AN ORDINANCE repealing Ordinance 5502, dated April 26, 2021, and appropriating $1,611,450.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2021 CARES Act Fund to provide for emergency cooling of the Downtown Courthouse associated with cooling outages occasioned by ongoing chilled water system repairs.

Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 20648, dated April 12, 2021, the Legislature authorized a transfer of funds for much needed repairs to the chilled water system in the Downtown Courthouse; and
WHEREAS, it is critical for day to day operations, trials, and jurors at the Downtown Courthouse to have an alternative air cooling system in place while the estimated eight weeks of repairs are completed; and;
WHEREAS, it has been determined the most successful and cost-effective method is to make use of temporary, portable air-cooled chillers and existing air handlers and ducts to air condition the third through eighth floors; and,
WHEREAS, all labor and equipment for the chillers necessary to remedy this situation immediately are available from an existing County term and supply vendor; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the needed funds in the proper spending account; now therefore.
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Ordinance 5502, dated April 26, 2021, which previously appropriated funds for this same purpose, be and hereby is repealed.

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
