INTRODUCED BY Crystal Williams, Dan Tarwater III, Ronald E. Finley, Tony Miller, Scott Burnett, Charlie Franklin, Jeanie Lauer, and Theresa Cass Galvin, County Legislators


Body
WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center has provided forensic interviews, family advocacy, and mental health services to the children and families of Jackson County since 1996; and,

WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center has worked for 25 years to serve the most vulnerable victims of crime such as child sexual abuse, child physical abuse, child neglect, and child witnesses to violence; and,

WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center provides all services free of charge regardless of ability to pay, and on average, serves over 800 children and their families each year; and,

WHEREAS, the Child Protection Center provides coordination with community partners such as the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Jackson County Family Court, all law enforcement jurisdictions in Jackson County, the Missouri Children's Division, Children's Mercy Hospital, and mental health partners; and,

WHEREAS, to recognize the 25 years of service, members of the Child Protection Center and Prosecuting Attorney Jean Peters Baker will be running 25 miles to raise awareness and funds to continue helping the children and families of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the great contributions that the Child Protection Center has provided for the last 25 years and expresses support for its continued contributions towards the children and families of Jackson County, Missouri.
