ORDINANCE NO. 5459, November 23, 2020

Body

 WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5423, dated October 12, 2020, the Legislature did amend the County Code to provide a maximum fee to be charged by the Clerk of the Legislature for notary services, consistent with new state law; and,

 

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that chapter 2 of the County Code be revised to set the specific fee to be charged for these services; now therefore,

 

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County Missouri, as follows:

 

Section A. Enacting Clause. Section 255., Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 255., to read as follows:

 

255.                     Fees, County Clerk.

The Clerk of the County Legislature shall charge the following fees for the following

services:

 

255.1                      Notary Commission.

The fee for issuance of a notary commission is five dollars ($5).

255.2 Notarization of Signature.

The fee for notarization of any signature shall be no more than five dollars ($5). The specific fee shall be [set by the County Legislature by Ordinance annually] five dollars ($5) until modified by Ordinance of the County Legislature.

 

Section B. Effective Date. This Ordinance, upon adoption and signature by the County Executive, shall take effect on December 1, 2020.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective on its specified effective date and upon its signature by the County Executive.
