Title: AN ORDINANCE appropriating $427,000.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2020 CARES Act Fund for use by Facilities Management/Department of Public Works, the Department of Corrections, and the Medical Examiner's Office to provide for plexiglass barriers in County offices, upgrade electrical capacity, fund the COVID-19 testing of inmates and staff at the Jackson County Detention Center, and pay other costs necessary in connection with the fight against the ongoing Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.

Body
WHEREAS, U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Missouri Governor Mike Parson, and County Executive Frank White, Jr., have all declared, in one form or another, the ongoing Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic to be a public health emergency; and,

WHEREAS, the County, through its various efforts, plays a significant role in the public health of its citizens and employees; and,

WHEREAS, an appropriate response by the County to this emergency will require significant expenditures from the County CARES Act Fund, which consists of monies provided by the U.S. Treasury for this purpose; and,

WHEREAS, this appropriation will provide funds to make necessary upgrades to the electrical service and capacity at the Medical Examiner's Office to support the new LODOX equipment and other equipment recently purchased to meet the current demands of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic; and,

WHEREAS, this appropriation will also provide funds to the Department of Public Works/Facilities Management to install plexiglass barriers throughout the downtown courthouse to insure proper social distancing; and,

WHEREAS, this appropriation will also provide funds to the Department of Corrections for ongoing COVID-19 testing and laboratory services to continue periodic testing of staff and inmates at the Jackson County Detention Center; an...
