Body
WHEREAS, Tom Wyrsch, Chief Compliance Review Officer for Jackson County, is retiring after over thirteen years of service to the County; and,

WHEREAS, throughout his life Tom has led as an example of volunteerism, community service, and activism, traits he learned from his father, Fred Wyrsch, Sr.; and,

WHEREAS, Tom has many passions, including his beloved University of Central Missouri Mules, the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Comets, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Kansas City St. Patrick's Day Parade; and,

WHEREAS, a third generation Irishman and one of the founding members of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, Tom was honored in 2001 as Grand Marshall and was inducted into the Fraternal Order of St. Patrick; and,

WHEREAS, Tom is known throughout the community for his political involvement, graduating from UCM with a degree in political science and working as an aide to United States Senator Stuart Symington, United States Senator Tom Eagleton, Congressman Dick Bolling, Congresswoman Karen McCarthy, Jackson County Executive Dale Baumgartner, and Kansas City Councilwoman Becky Nace; and,

WHEREAS, Tom is a long-time member and former Chairman of the Jackson County Democratic Committee and a 2001 recipient of the committee's Truman Award; and,

WHEREAS, Tom's commitment to volunteerism includes serving as judge of the Great Lenexa BBQ Contest, logistics chair for the American Royal Parade, a volunteer with the Kansas City Zoo's Jazzoo Festival, and president and member of the UCM Alumni Board of Directors; and,

WHEREAS, in 2015, the UCM Alumni Association honored Tom with the Distinguished Alumni Award for Service; and,
