RESOLUTION NO. 20508, September 28, 2020

INTRODUCED BY Theresa Cass Galvin and Dan Tarwater III, County Legislators

Body

WHEREAS, V. Edwin (Ed) Stoll, Chief Administrative Officer for Jackson County, will retire September 30, 2020, after more than eleven years of service to Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, Ed joined Jackson County in 2009 with extensive private law practice experience in real estate, tax, and finance matters, skills he used to bring a commitment of excellence upon which the County has come to depend; and,

WHEREAS, Ed’s leadership in his roles as Director of Collection, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, and Chief Administrative Officer, has made a significant and profound contribution to Jackson County, notably including his support for the pay study that brought equitable compensation to associates throughout the County; and,

WHEREAS, during his more than thirty years of private law practice, Ed represented developers in low-income housing and other real estate developments and served four years on the Missouri Housing Development Commission, furthering his support of low to moderate income housing throughout the state of Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, Ed’s colleagues appreciate his professionalism, high ethical standards, integrity, and calmness in the face of challenges, bringing thoughtfulness and quiet encouragement during difficult times; and,

WHEREAS, Ed has volunteered extensively on boards for the Boy Scouts of America, Jackson County Historical Society, his church, and Raytown Board of Education; and,

WHEREAS, on November 9, 2015, President Barack Obama nominated Ed to serve as a Judge of the United States Tax Court, which was reported out of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee by a unanimous affirmative vote, although, regrettably, the nomination expired on January 3, 2017, at the end of the 114th Congress without senate confirmation; and,

WHEREAS, Ed’s daily presence will be deeply missed by his colleagues who have benefited from his knowledge, effective problem-solving, and positive support; and,

WHEREAS, Ed’s wife Jan, their children Miller, Hunter, and Gretchen, and their families join in the celebration of this happy occasion; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates V. Edwin Stoll on the occasion of his retirement and extends best wishes on all of his future endeavors.
